The Story of Posst Bike
The client's goal has been to develop a facility (workshop) that would serve as a showcase to the world for their custom bicycles. They needed a place that would reflect the quality of their product and how they develop the same. Since the founder has a strong technical background and has been a multi-entrepreneur, he wanted to ensure that the quality of products he was purchasing for his startup was not compromised.
The Challenge of Opening a New Facility in Chennai
The client was certain about what workbenches they needed to perform assembly operations for his facility. So, they started looking for overseas vendors that could deliver high-quality products. However, they had a hard time working with the global vendors as their lead times were too long. Another challenge that they faced was their lack of servicing facilities in India.
As a result, the client decided to look for vendors within the country that could meet his needs in a shorter lead time. But after dealing with a myriad of local vendors, he found no one understood what Posst Bike needed or showed the capability to deliver quality. Also, the lack of professionalism among local vendors led to the client feeling that he didn't get what he wanted from his experience with them.
